"March Madness" As Snowfall Hits Australia In Early Autumn
Winter made an early-season entrance in Australia overnight, with a polar blast from the Antarctic dumping up to 15cm of fresh snow on the slopes as temperatures tumbled to around -2.C.

Today, alongside 15 cm of fresh snow, the SkiWelt once again offers a variety of exciting events. Starting at 11:00 am, guests can enjoy a free “witches’ potion” at the Simonalm in Söll, while the ski cinema in the historic farmhouse “Hexerei” on the Keat slope remains open until 3:00 pm. From 11:30 am, the “T.B.G. by Da Vinci Family” hosts a lively coffee party featuring the biggest hits from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, before the afternoon transitions into vibrant après-ski moments from 1:00 pm at the Tenner Stadl in Hopfgarten. Excellent resort, best for freeriders. Note that during periods of heavy snow or wind the connection to Saalbach may be shut and if so, skiing is very limited to a few runs in Fieberbrunn (happened 3 days in a row in Jan 2022). Best place to stay fore skiing is around the Bergbahn, but if you are taking the bus then there are plenty of places down the hill in Fieberbrunn. Walking to the Bergbahn is not a great idea as it's uphill and not a good path. Best off-piste guide companies are S4 and Widman, both at the base of the Fieberbrunn Bergbahn. The best option is the free bus 8301/8302 which does a small circuit of the area. Other buses also travel the route. Beware. VVT, who run the bus service, are not good. Unlike every bus system in the world, they don't show the bus route number (8301/8302) on the front of the bus, surly drivers won't talk, and the internal display often doesn't work. A bus will turn up, but VVT make it difficult to determine if it's the right one.
