Loon Mountain in the United States (New Hampshire State) is a medium sized ski resort with 8 ski lifts (6 chair lifts, 1 surface lifts) that offers skiers an impressive 642 metres (2108 feet) of vertical descent. Loon Mountain has 46 trails. Loon Mountain is best suited to intermediate skiers and snowboarders but there is some terrain for beginners and advanced skiers. There are 35 kilometers (22 miles) of cross country ski trails at Loon Mountain. For snowboarders, there is a terrain park and a half pipe. Nearly all of the trails at Loon Mountain are covered by snowmaking. The closest airport is at Boston but the transfer time is 2 hours. The nearest train station to Loon Mountain is at Boston.

Terrific resort. Super user friendly, great layout, variety of terrain, best snow-making and grooming in the area, easy to get to from MA, but not NY. It's a Boyne Resort and a well run business. With that you get high prices and big crowds. They do a good job dealing with the masses but it's no place to be on a weekend. Canon Mt. nearby is a good choice if Loon is too busy although it is an entirely different experience and not for the timid.
