Trying to get people to pay for weather forecasts?
what a joke!
[Editors comments: The vast majority of this site is free. The reason why a membership fee exists is because we provide members with a vast archive of historical snow reports from Ski-club. Since they do not make this information freely available on their site, we are obliged to restrict it on this site too. In any case, many of our site members join in order to avail themselves of various member discounts on things like care hire and travel insurance. At snow-forecast.com we pass on any savings to members and take no commission on sales. Membership costs are very modest compared with the savings you can make.]

Hello, can anybody help out there (UK based residents)?
We went to Tyrol/Austria for my stag night & skiing and also went to see the big Kitzbuehel downhill race on Jan 19th 2008 (Hahnenkamm). I've heard that the race was featured on Ski Sunday on Jan 20th on BBC. Has anybody recorded Ski Sunday on Jan 20th and is willing to provide me the vidoe tape? I'm willing to pay for the expenses (e.g. video tape) and a bit more (up to £ 40). Anybody who does have the recording on a tape and is interested in my offer, please reply back to email@example.com

I'm off to Sierre at Tahoe - but there don't seem to be many reviews of the place... anyone know the area and want to leave a bit of feedback in the resort guide on what to expect and what it's like!

Talking about Gressoney, Monterosaski: plenty of snow, fabulous weather, great landscapes, good food and.. drinks! Simply perfect for anyone.
Perfect for my son that has just started skiing; perfect for my wife that is a good skier on piste and perfect for me, that like off-piste so much.
What a perfect week!!

Can anyone suggest any good places to eat in Sierra Nevada - we came last year and are coming back end Feb as it is ideal for a weekend ski trip but from memory the food was not so good.

Mammoth Mountain in Central California has some steeps open ( Chutes with 45 degree pitches or better( wipe out drop out chutes ) access from gondola at summit 12,050 feet.
If visiting California or western Canada have a look at my site after getting your snow reports here:

Have been skiing at Bareges/La Mongie since it opened last Friday. The skiing is great and conditions excellent. More snow forecast for Christmas Day. So get yourselves down here for some good skiing at great prices. Today 50% of the pistes were open - and we had the place to ourselves!

Just thought I'd give a write up for Sainte Foy in France. We have been there for the last two years and it is brilliant for families. Small resort but plenty of pistes for everyone. No waiting at the lifts and the lift operators are brilliant for slowing down the lifts for the kids getting on and off. Probably not a great spot for the more advanced skier unless you are going off piste and then there is plenty but not a lot of pistes for the advanced. If you want any more info just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org

Just wanted to recommend Vaujany for a great family ski resort in the Alp d'Huez region. We stayed at the 5 star Oisans apartments booked through Ski Peak last year. This year we are pushing the boat out and staying in their 5 star Chalet Saskia! Can't wait.....if you want to know more try here vaujany-chalets.com

The French Pyrenees is a wonderful place to ski. Take a look at tourmalet.fr and you will see extensive skiing available to all levels of skiers.
We are expecting good snow this season. Our 2 warm cosy gites are just 30 minutes from Tourmalet, we are 5 minutes from the town of Bagneres de Bigorre. Take a look at our site www.leparede.com for excellent priced accomodation (and excellent quality) - and skiing at half the price of the Alps!

Can you believe it? Snow in Chamonix last week that came close to the valley. Lets hope the bad weather in Europe over the summer will mean lots of snow in the winter too.

For regional outlooks this site really is cool. I can tell you run your maps off the NWS weather models or so which is cool. You see I forecast for ALL of Southern Califonia with any type of weather. You can have a look at my work here. We do SNOW FORECASTING as well. www.ontarioweatherservice.com
We aren't as regional as you,but we are more accurate for So Cal based on the geography of our mountains here. Most resorts see MORE than you advertise. Snow Valley has near 6-10 inches from this last storm total. You have 2 inches. Have a good one. [EDITOR - Thanks Kevin. We are already aware that GFS underestimates snowfall along the Pacific Coastal States especially and are looking at alternatives - Mesoscale models certainly improve accuracy and we are hopeful that we will soon be able to provide these as alternatives. The problem, as always, is generating timely forecasts, but the latest dual Opteron machines look like the answer. Good luck with your website. Rob Davies]

Your site is really useful, I even had been registered its worth the money. BUT could you please consider to present Austria as a dedicated page? Right now you can see it with Germany (too small scale) or under Estern Alps (not complete, resorts like Semmering or Ötscher belong to the Eastern Alps and are not on the map)

Great site! Hi I'm going to Sierra Nevada in southern Spain in the last week of March. Has anyone been this time of year? Whats the snow condition like? Feedback would be much appreciated.
Mat - it varies a lot from year to year - see the snow history pages on our Sierra Nevada page - you can see every report for the past 5 years and graphs show you the depths etc. [ed.]

Just got back from Whistler, Canada. I have never seen so much snow and the resort is excellent. Two days we woke up to 23cm of fresh powder snow. It's a 10 hour flight from the UK but if you love to ski/board then its well worth the journey for the experience. Whistler village is packed with shops, bars and restaurants and with the Canadian Dollar being so low against the pound we could not resist a bit of retail therapy too!
Don't miss such a good year in Whistler! :)

Just like to let you all know about a great little resort in Italy called Macugnaga. Discovered it last year. Not for those who want the night life, but we had a really enjoyably stay. Hardly any queues, some nice little mountain restaurants for lunching, excellent instructors. I'd say a great place for parties with kids. None of the UK tour operators go there, but its easy from Milan. Recommend Cristalo hotel - 5 mins walk to lift and ski back to front door. And there is snow there!

This is a great site for sado's like me who check the conditions everyday.
I am going to Maria Alm in the Hochkonig region of Austria. I've recently bought an apartment there and this will be the first winter skiing as yet. Its also the first skiing I've done for 2 years as I missed a year due to knee reconstruction so I'm really up for this.
Should anybody be interested in renting the apartment in this beautiful region of Salzbugerland please visit www.alpineloft.co.uk
Wish I was there now! Cheers, Rob
