Visitor Reviews of Mt Bachelor
Johnny from UNITED STATES writes:
Mt. Bachelor has its moments. Some of the best skiing around on a good day. Lots of great terrain for all abilities. Not much in the way of really steep terrain, but its an enjoyable mountain to ski.
The problem it has right now is that the management totally stinks. They don't know how to run a lift line to save their lives. I can't tell you how many times I've been there on a somewhat busy day and its dog eat dog with people all over your skis/boards with lifts half full going up and their lifties just laughing and having a grand old time. WHy are they even there? It's embarassing. The mountain management has managed to piss off the locals so much that they slashed prices on the season passes and jacked up the single day passes to $70 during the holidays(totally NOT worth it especially when their lift line management breaks down).
It has the potential to be a fantastic mountain, it's just not there yet!

- Apertura stagione: 2010-11-20
If you are hiking be aware that there is grooming/snowmaking operations underway. The terrain is good 2/3 of the way up Pine, not so awesome on the top 1/3 (got rocks?). We are pushing snow at mid-mtn to try and cover up the lava rock wind blown areas.
Current projected opening day is Friday, Nov. 20. Overall the mountain is shaping up nicely. Some areas are looking great, while others are still mighty rocky. We do have more snow management to do (and more needs to stick up high) before the slopes can reasonably sustain nightly grooming and prolonged skier and rider traffic. There really is not one "magic number" for snow depth because of factors like snow density, moisture, wind distribution, etc. It looks like one rain event, and one extended snow cycle is in the cards before we get to next weekend.
There's a ton coming up in the next couple weeks. Check out the Events Calendar for information on events like movie showings, Ski For Schools and more.

Printing of season passes is underway at a new office in the Old Mill through Nov 18 (GO GET YOURS). More info here.
